Cast Your Burden on the Lord
So, over the last week or so I started to allow myself to slide into a funk. For whatever reason, maybe the barrage of bad news in the world, restricted activities, limited social and personal contact, I was slipping into a bit of a depressive state. Then it occurred to me Sunday night as I was meditating and having some quiet time with my maker, why am I trying to carry this load? I’m an idiot! The answer is right there in front of my face and I even “preach” it...I needed to give it over to God. So I did. “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.”Psalm 55:22 Look, I’m sure I am not alone. Have you ever felt emotionally out of control? Though we may feel like our emotions are overwhelming, our emotions are symptoms of a bigger problem. They are a reaction, not a cause. Too often we spend our time trying to appease our emotions of anxiety, fear, anger, or envy without addressing the real issue in our hearts. Our emotions are subject to the spirit of who we are. As we walk in the Spirit of God, our emotions are brought into line with His priorities. If Christ is the man who saved us from sin and death, He can and will overcome our emotions if we submit them to His control. Just ask. We do not have to live as victims of our feelings. We do not have to live captive to our circumstances. The same Christ who carried the sin of the world on His shoulders offers to bear the burden you’re carrying today. Try casting off the burden, casting all your cares, and casting yourself on the grace of a loving God. He’s got you. Be Nice, Grace Wins
