Forgiveness: Losing Count, Not Keeping Score
So, I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and got a chance to spend it with family and friends. I sure did. The down time (and hundreds of Merry Christmas texts) got me thinking about friends I’ve seen and those I haven’t in a long time. I started thinking about the “why” behind the absence of communication with some old friends. Was it as simple as time, life changes or was there some old wounds? Probably all of the above and suspect you have a list of your own as well. Anyhow, this brings me to forgiveness again. Forgiveness of your brothers now and in the past. “Then Peter came up and said to him, "Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.”Matthew 18:21-22 Forgiveness is not about keeping score. It’s about losing count. We are all going to get hurt in some way. Your spouse will let you down. Someone might gossip about your marriage. Someone might steal your money. Someone might steal your husband. Someone may have abused you. Someone may have harmed your child. While getting hurt is reality, getting and staying bitter is a reaction. We must live a lifestyle of constant forgiveness. We must forgive. All the time.Have a groovy day!Peace,
