Give Thanks in All Circumstances
“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”1 Thessalonians 5:18 Yesterday evening I was talking to my neighbor who just this year lost her husband and two weeks ago her father. One of which died from the very same cancer I’m battling. While it has certainly been a sad year for her, we found some things to talk about that she was grateful for. I certainly enjoyed the conversation and I think she felt better too. But it got me thinking that in the midst of our busy daily routine, we often forget how blessed we are. It is a known fact that if you have food on your table, clothes to wear, a roof over your head, clean drinking water, electricity, and someone you can call family, you are richer than 70% of the world! But gratefulness is not just about being thankful for what we have, because we are asked to give thanks to the Lord in all circumstances. There might be many things bothering us today, but we will never lack reasons to be thankful. Gratefulness is an expression of humility. When we are grateful to God or man, we take the focus off ourselves. Many times we tend to focus on what we don’t have, or look around for what is wrong. Complaining and fault-finding aren’t signs of a grateful man. So, try and take some time to see some good in everything that happens to you today, and be grateful to God. Be Nice, Grace Wins
