He Must Increase, I Must Decrease
“He must increase, but I must decrease."”John 3:30 You feel me? What are we doing here? What is reading the Bible, prayer, and Christianity all about? It’s about loving God and others, right? It’s following Jesus. If that sums up your faith, then think about this question: What does it actually mean to follow Jesus? Clearly He’s not cruising around in front of us, right? What does it mean every day? Here’s another question: How much do my daily routines, attitudes, relationships, financial decisions, and goals look like Jesus? Got your attention? I know, I got my own attention too...John the Baptist figured out following Jesus. He realized more of Jesus meant less of John. He said, “He must become greater, I must become less.” That’s a tough one, right? Less of me, you? I was just getting to where I like me more! Ha! You see, Jesus, like God, could’ve had whatever He wanted. Instead, He gave up everything He had so we could know God. Following Jesus is living with that mindset. How does it look to apply this mindset to the way you serve your kids, your family, your neighbors, your co-workers, the other humans we share this planet with?Make me wonder what about my life looks like His? What exactly would I take less of to have a life more like His?Let’s be bold in witness, courageous in service, extravagant in generosity, and grateful in the daily grind. I’m in. Be Nice, Grace Wins.
